Want to Boost Your SEO? Get On Social Media Sites

You can’t deny it anymore—social media is becoming an important part of SEO. If you aren’t on the bandwagon, get on! It’s highly likely social media will be essential to SEO in the future, and you don’t want to miss out, right?

Some of the best social media networks to explore are:

Facebook

With over a billion active users, Facebook is the largest social media sites out there. If your business doesn’t have a page, you’re missing a lot of opportunities. It’s that simple. Use your Facebook page to link to a blog post you just put up, or get feedback about a new product or service you’re offering.

Twitter

Twitter is another big one. If you don’t want to get in on the social media thing (if content marketing is important to you, this is not a good idea!), at least get a Facebook and Twitter account. Twitter is great for not only getting more visitors to your site but also for engaging customers and prospective clients. If you offer energy audits, give a quick tip about how to make your home more energy efficient and send out a tweet! People appreciate helpful information—they’ll remember it and be more likely to go to your website.

YouTube

There are a lot of users on YouTube on a daily basis, looking for anything from funny home videos to recipes to stretching exercises. No matter what industry you’re in, you can take advantage of this. Chiropractors, put up a video that shows different back stretches to relieve pain. Roofers, show different types of roofing materials, briefly explaining the advantages of each one. You get the idea. You can always give a virtual tour of your office (this applies to any business in any industry!). This is a great idea for “personalizing” your business and being more “accessible.”

Google Plus

One of the newest social networking sources, Google Plus shouldn’t be dismissed as unimportant. It’s a great way to get more links to your site, more visitors, more potential leads—as well as engage with people. You can post links to your blog, upload pictures and videos, and more. And it’s super simple to create a page!

Pinterest

Have you seen a website with a “Pin It” button? You probably have, especially in a remodeling company’s photo gallery. Home remodelers, kitchen designers, and other companies who have photo-centric websites should consider using Pinterest as part of their online marketing strategy.

Instagram

Another newer social media website, Instagram has a lot of potential, especially since it just announced a big change. Starting very soon, every user will have a public profile page that can be seen by everyone, not just those who are on Instagram. This is great for online marketers. Like Pinterest, it’s a good way to share photos and is ideal for companies whose photos are very important (i.e., remodelers, designers, etc.).

LinkedIn

Although not as fun or cool as Instagram or Pinterest, LinkedIn has its share of online marketing benefits. More and more users are joining LinkedIn, and it’s a great way to make connections and engage with people. Making more connections will drive more traffic to your site. Also make sure you add in profile links because the first thing people will (probably) do when they see you on LinkedIn is view your profile.

Get on the Social Media Bandwagon

Does having Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google Plus profiles guarantee you’ll rank on the first page? Of course not (remember—there are no guarantees in SEO and content marketing). However, interacting on more social media sites and doing a good job promoting the content you create can help you get found more easily by a wider range of people and boost your brand (which is becoming more important in the SEO world).
